A girl’s night out everyone can remember may sound like an oxymoron, but with the right preparations, you and your legion of ladies will be able to take on the town with confidence.

A great night out means going to the most fun places, with the most interesting people, and having an experience that makes for more than just a good Instagram post.

Does a night like that sound too good to be true? Read on to learn how to pick the most happening spots and craft a night out that you will want to model all others after.

1. Don’t Forget to Hydrate While You’re Getting Ready

The last thing you want after your great night out is to have to spend the entire next day in bed with a hangover.

While the effectiveness of drinking water for preventing a hangover is still up for debate, it’s a great way to start the night off on the right foot.

Drinking water before, during, and after drinking alcohol, will help your body process the drinks more slowly preventing you from becoming overly intoxicated and allowing you to wake up hydrated and ready for brunch.

2. Dress to Express

Unless you live in a big city like New York or Chicago, walking into a bar can kinda feel like browsing through a Charlotte Russe catalog. All around you are reasonably priced outfits only different in shade and selection.

But you don’t have to wait to move to an urban area or win the lottery to begin to dress to express yourself. Try heading to your local thrift store on the half-off day and purchase some pieces that look good on you.

While today’s fashions may be what looks best on a model, you should adorn yourself in clothes that confidently express your personality.

3. Pick a Place with Great Atmosphere

Having a memorable night out on the town is about more than heading to the place you hear about on the radio. Take the time to explore the unique places in your area and head to one with an atmosphere that makes you feel relaxed and engaged.

Rather than standing around holding tiny plastic cups, look for a place with unique glassware and fantastic lighting. Experience is everything.

4. Make Sure the Music isn’t Overpowering

The last thing you want after springing for nice drinks and enjoying the atmosphere in a room is to not be able to talk to your friends at all.

Choose a location that has great music that doesn’t overpower the room. You can always move towards the dancefloor if you want to get lost in the ambiance.

5. Don’t Forget the Dance Floor!

The dance floor, for many women, is the main reason for having a night out. A good club offers a group of women the opportunity to lose their trouble to the beat of a drum.

Don’t make the mistake of heading to a place with an overcrowded dance floor, or one that doesn’t get packed until after midnight. Find a club where people go at reasonable hours to let loose. Your friends in relationships will thank you for helping them avoid the legion of creeps while out shaking their groove things.

6. Find Some Great Entertainment

If your friends aren’t the super social type, then you may find your group struggles through a night out often not knowing where to go to have a good time.

One great solution is to look for artistic events in your area like burlesque and comedy shows where amateurs get the opportunity to show off their talents on the weekends. You’ll feel great about exposing your friends to great art in the local community and enjoy a unique experience that is memorable.

7. Don’t be Afraid to Break the Fourth Wall

When you’re out with your girls, sometimes you can get wrapped up in a plan and dragged along through the night without having any fun. But often, the original idea your group set out with doesn’t pan out.

If you find yourself standing around bored during the night or turning to alcohol to make your night more exciting, don’t be afraid to speak up to the group and let them know how you’re feeling.

While no one likes a Debbie Downer, other people in your group are probably experiencing the same emotions. Speak up before its too late to change the plan and the night gets away from you.

8. Interact with the People Around You

Beyond speaking up to your group, don’t be afraid to reach out to other people in the room. When you go out with a group of friends, you’re going to meet other people and make new friends, otherwise, you would just go over to one person’s house.

Use this logic to give yourself reasoning for reaching out to the groups around you. Everyone is there to have a good time.

9. Leave Before the Shots Come Out

If your friends are like most people in late night bars, then around the time the night feels starting to wind down, all of a sudden someone will suggest a round of shots.

While at the time this may sound like a good idea, be sure to say no. You’ll have a much easier time making it to brunch in the morning.

10. Meet for Brunch in the Morning

After a night out with the girls, you’ll want to sit around reminiscing about all the interesting things you saw and people you met. What better way to do that than with bottomless mimosas and an omelet?

Head to your favorite brunch to take your weekend to the next level.
