Bachelorette parties are the ultimate girls’ night out. It’s every woman’s chance to get away, enjoy an excuse to dress up, and have some fun. Plus, this all goes down while celebrating a close friend and making new friends!
But, there is a bit of pressure that’s associated with such events.
You have to make sure your outfits are on point for all the festivities and that you don’t leave anything important at home. After all, you never how many group pictures you’re all going to take or if you’ll end up needing our makeup bag before you go to another bar.
Looking less than your best is not an option.
Here are a few questions you should ask yourself when picking out your bachelorette party attire.
1. Is There a Theme to the Party?
If the bride has picked a theme for her bachelorette party, you’re in good shape. This already narrows down your options of appropriate outfits for the evening/weekend.
It takes your outfit choices in a specific direction. Instead of aiming for something that’s “nice” or “fun”, a theme tells you if you need to dress for a beachy bachelorette party or get ready for an all-out bar crawl.
Plus, most brides that pick a theme also make special shirts for their gal pals! They make it easy for you to decide what to wear by deciding one piece for you. Then, all you have to do is figure out how to make an outfit with what you’ve been given.
2. What’s on the Agenda?
Keep in mind that everyone has a different idea of what a bachelorette party should be like. Some ladies love the “classic” idea of bar hopping with their friends until the sun comes up. Others like to plan more relaxed adventures – like taking a self-care day at the spa or going on a calm weekend getaway.
Make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into for the night/weekend. Not only will this help you mentally prepare for all the drinking (or not drinking) that you’ll be doing, but it gives you an idea of what kind of outfits you need.
This is especially important if you have an active or outdoorsy friend. If she’s planning to take everyone on a hike while you spend a weekend together in the cabins, you need to know about that before you get up there.
3. What’s the Weather Going to Be Like?
Whether you’re embarking on just one night of fun or spending a weekend away on vacation, you should check the weather. The last thing you want is to be freezing when you walk from one bar to another or to end up unprepared for rain while on a beach getaway.
It might sound like a silly thing to do, but you’ll be glad you checked. Bonus points if you see something everyone should know about (like heavy rains or super hot temperatures) and put it in the group chat! Everyone will love you for looking out for the bridal squad.
4. How Comfortable Am I Going to Be In This?
Another way to figure out your bachelorette party attire is to think about how comfortable you’re really going to be. Remember, this is not an average night of drinking; this is basically the Olympics of girls night out.
You might want to leave your favorite heels at home and save them for another time. You should also think about how you’re going to do your hair and the accessories you plan to bring along, too. Everything needs to show off your personality and look good, but more importantly, it needs to feel good.
5. How Fancy Are We Really Getting?
The final question to ask yourself when preparing for a bachelorette party is how fancy the party is going to be.
Research the bars you’re going to, the hotel you’re staying at, and all the daytime events you plan to do. See if the restaurant for dinner has a dress code and consider the overall vibe of the city you’ll be in. It’s much different to dress up in Miami than in Austin, after all.
The last thing you want is to be the underdressed girl among a group of women who pulled out all the stops. But, you also don’t want to be the try-hard in a group of friends that are just out having fun together.
If you’re still having trouble picking something out, text one of the other girls in the group. Chances are, she’s going through the same dilemma and would love to have someone help her pick out outfits, too!
Bachelorette Party Attire, Purse Essentials, and More
Here’s the #1 rule of bachelorette party attire to always abide by: make sure you don’t outdress the bride.
Remember, this is her special day! She’s the one who is embarking on this journey, and she just wants her friends to be supportive of the process.
When in doubt over what to pack, consider what your friend will likely be wearing and follow her lead. You know her well enough to be invited to the party, so you should be able to figure this out.
