Is recreational weed legal in your state?

You’re in luck. The next time you find yourself at a party, chances are you can expect that someone will offer you the jazz cabbage.

Whether you’ve been out of practice for a while or you’re an experienced smoker, there’s something on our list for you. Read on to learn the 9 things you should know about 420-friendly partying.

1. If You Haven’t Smoked In a While…

If you’ve been out of the habit for a while, you might want to take it easy right off the bat. A lot has changed in the wide world of weed.

Weed is more of a science than ever and that’s given way to stronger and more powerful strains than you might be expecting. If you’ve been out of the game, keep your hits small and build on your high as the night progresses. You won’t end up feeling out of your depth.

2. Plan for Your Evening

Knowing what your smoking can help you plan for your evening. Marijuana is traditionally sold in one of three strains. Sativa, Indica, and Hybrid indicate the type of strain you’re smoking and what experience you can expect from the high.

Sativa is typically a head high. These strains are far better suited for daytime use and create a vibrant and creative high. These strains are perfect for daycation excursions, concerts, and parties.

Indica smokers traditionally experience far more of a body high than Sativa smokers. This mellow high is perfect for those looking to take the edge off and have a good time. Don’t smoke too much or you’ll risk the dreaded ‘couch lock’.

As you might have guessed, hybrid tokers can expect to experience a mixture of these two experiences. Most hybrid strains are grouped into Sativa dominant, Indica dominant, or strains high in CBD.

3. Keeping It Low Profile

Marijuana dispensaries have made it easier than ever to get your kicks discreetly. Innocuous looking chocolate bars, mints, and waters make it easy for you to bring the party with you.

If you’re looking to smoke but don’t want to smell like a dispensary, you may want to opt for a vape pen. There are two forms of vape pens commonly available at dispensaries. One is a disposable pen and the other is a disposable cartridge that attaches to your reusable battery pack.

These pens feature a cannabis concentrate that is nearly odorless and far lower profile than the standard joint.

4. Start the Night Right: Bring Her Flowers

Wanna surprise your lady with a pre-party treat she’s sure to enjoy? Or are you looking to up the ante on ladies night? Try rolling your flower in rose petals.

Yes, it turns out the hottest new trend in smoking means wrapping your flower in flowers. This twitter tutorial video has nearly 7 million views and explains just how easy it is to create your own rose petal blunt.

While the jury is still out on rather or not smoking rose petals is harmful, there are certainly worse things you could do.

5. Find Your Favorite

Wanna eliminate the guessing game? Ask your local budtender to help you find your favorite strain. Rather you’re looking for a light and effervescent high or a mellow and sexy experience, your local pot shop will be happy to help you find your signature strain.

Once you’ve found your favorite, bring it to the party with you. After all, the best kind of bud is the kind shared between friends.

6. Don’t Worry, Bro

There’s always a chance that you could get too high. Don’t worry, that’s okay too. Remember, marijuana has caused zero documented overdoses, so you don’t have to worry about calling an ambulance anytime soon.

It’s estimated that in order for a human to consume a lethal amount of weed, they would need to smoke around 1,500 lbs of weed within a span of 15 minutes.

Not really doable, bro.

7. Warning: Munchies Ahead

If you or your buddies are health conscious, it might not hurt to plan healthy snacks ahead of time. When the mood strikes, there’s a good chance you’ll end up eating whatever is around.

If you don’t feel like uber-ing to the local Taco Bell, check out your food delivery options in advance. You can also keep a couple healthy snacks in your car for safe keeping. (Always a good idea!)

8. Don’t Bring the Party in the Car

Although recreational, weed still isn’t legal to bring in the car with you. Much like ‘open bottle’ laws that govern alcohol, if you want to transport your bud, you’ve got to keep it in the trunk.

Driving while stoned also translates to a DUI. While you won’t have to fear the breathalyzer, cops can still test you for marijuana if they suspect you may be intoxicated. Currently, the DUI standard is set at 5 nanograms of THC per milliliter of blood.

9. Don’t Take It on the Flight to Vegas

While weed may now be legal in many states, there’s one place that is an exception. Airports, even in marijuana-friendly states, are a federal jurisdiction.

Because marijuana legislation is still a bit murky, it’s still considered illegal under federal law. Because airports are government property, you run the risk of facing arrest if TSA finds your stash.

Even the notoriously bud-friendly city of Denver has made marijuana-related stops in their airport. However, with only 29 related stops recorded since 2015, Denver International Airport is yet to issue any citation for the offense.
